“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

—Maya Angelou

Currently offering sessions both in-person and through teletherapy (secure video sessions).

Individual Therapy

My approach to individual therapy services is relational but also practical and goal-oriented. I treat children ages 3 and up, teens and adults. Play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, combined with experience and insights gained from working with clients over the years, inform my work. I have a special interest in therapy for anxiety including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias and selective mutism.

Parent Coaching

The primary parenting model I use is the Nurtured Heart Approach®, which is a relationship-based method that works to bring forth children’s greatness through the right balance of clear boundaries, energizing positive behaviors, and refusal to energize negative behavior. While I also incorporate lessons learned from collaborative problem solving, the Barkley method and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), I’ve found NHA to be particularly effective and transformative. To specifically address childhood anxiety disorders, I offer SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), a program in which a child’s anxiety is treated indirectly through parent sessions.

Consultation

A free 20-minute phone or video consultation can be scheduled through my Contact page for anyone considering ongoing services. During that meeting, we will discuss current concerns and how I may help. I also offer one-time or ongoing parent and/or school consultation services, most frequently for selective mutism.

Family Therapy

I provide family therapy primarily for parents and their minor children. My approach is to help strengthen family relationships and appropriate boundaries through improved communication and ways of relating to one another.
